On September 1st, Kees Scheffers started as the new greenhouse division manager at Vertify Naaldwijk, the Netherlands.

"I'm 56 years old and was born and raised in Maasdijk," he shared in Vertify's newsletter. "I still live there with my wife Petra. Horticulture runs in my veins. My parents had their own company, where I also worked for a few years after finishing my studies at the Lower and Intermediate Horticultural School."
His professional career in the sector began in 1996 at the Research Station for Floriculture and Glasshouse Vegetables in Naaldwijk. "As a senior crop supervisor, I was responsible for propagation and cultivation of vegetable crops, working closely with researchers and growers. In the evenings I completed my degree at the Higher Horticultural School (HAS Delft). In 2005, I moved to GreenQ (now Delphy), where I was involved as site manager in research on lighted cultivation and what was then called 'Het Nieuwe Telen,' now widely known as Plant Empowerment."
Three years later, he joined Wageningen UR's Greenhouse Horticulture Business Unit in Bleiswijk. "There I held several positions, including head grower, combined with the role of quality manager (ISO 9001:2015), as well as project leader abroad. In countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, I helped set up high-tech greenhouses, training and guiding staff in cultivation practices."
"From 2020 to 2024, I was team leader of the experimental greenhouse and part of the management team. In the last two years, I focused fully on preparing a new facility in Bleiswijk – an intensive process aimed at creating a future-proof research site."
"The wealth of experience I've gained in research, cultivation, and international projects, I now bring with me to Vertify. I look forward to working with the team to realize Vertify's ambitions and to further strengthen the greenhouse sector."
