Afghanistan establishes 160 new greenhouses in Khost province

The Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock Department of Khost province has announced the establishment of 169 greenhouses over the past two years, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Mustaghfir Garbaz, spokesperson for the Khost governor, stated that the purpose of these greenhouses is to increase agricultural production, promote seasonal vegetables and fruits, enhance the economic situation of farmers, and boost household incomes.

The greenhouses have been constructed not only in Khost city but also in various areas of the Qalandar, Nader Shah Kot, Ismail Khel, Ali Sher, and Sabri districts.

The statement indicated that nearly 770 farmers and their families have directly benefited from job and production opportunities through this project, with thousands more indirectly gaining from it.

Farmers have reported that they are now producing significantly more and higher-quality products compared to before, which not only meets their domestic needs but also increases their income through the sale of surplus produce.
