A highlight of the course were the excursions to leading greenhouse companies and research facilities, including LinFlowers, Tomeco (location VW Maxburg), Biobest, Deliflor Chrysanten and the WUR Greenhouse Horticulture Research facilities in Bleiswijk. These visits offered participants from countries such as the United States, China, India, Mexico, Kenya, Saudi Arabia, and several European nations a unique opportunity to experience innovative cultivation strategies in practice.
The Summer School is designed for professionals working in horticultural production, consultancy, suppliers and service providers, technology development and research. The international mix of participants encouraged rich knowledge exchange and networking across borders.
"The greenhouse industry plays a pivotal role in sustainable food production. With this Summer School, we have equipped a new generation of professionals with the insights and tools to innovate within their own countries and climates," said course leader Dr Silke Hemming.
The next edition of the Summer School Greenhouse Horticulture is scheduled for 2026.
