Jan Volwater 45 years with Zantingh

1980 was a year of many milestones for the Netherlands: the new municipality of Lelystad was established, Queen Juliana passed the crown to her daughter Beatrix, Gerard Nijboer won the Amsterdam Marathon, and Joop Zoetemelk claimed victory in the Tour de France. But there was more good news that year: 20-year-old technician Jan Volwater joined Zantingh.

After a flying start as a service engineer out in the field, this true native of Veenendaal steadily grew into the role of Head of Production at Zantingh in Rijsenhout. Over the years, the vast majority of Zantingh's globally supplied burners, CO₂ fans, and flue gas condensers have passed through his hands.

Jan is a true all-rounder—mechanics, electrical engineering, electronics, control systems—nothing is beyond his expertise. A master craftsman through and through, he's been at the forefront of many innovations within the company. From combined heat and power systems to greenhouse roof cleaners—just to name a few classics from Zantingh's history—Jan has been closely involved in numerous technical developments, consistently making significant contributions.

But Jan isn't just the man behind the scenes. With his motto, "There's a (technical) solution to every problem," he regularly heads out as a troubleshooter or leads his team in retrofitting installations on-site to the latest standards. In his spare time, he's even been known to lend a hand to colleagues, replacing gas boilers or installing awnings with the same effortless skill.

So, although retirement age is slowly approaching, Zantingh hopes to benefit from Jan's craftsmanship for many years to come. And on the occasion of Zantingh celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, they're taking a moment to shine a well-deserved spotlight on Jan.
