The average price for cucumbers soared in week 27 at the auctions of the Association of Belgian Horticultural Cooperatives. Bell pepper prices remain low, while the average price for tomatoes saw a slight increase, pushing it above the five-year average and just above the levels seen in previous years.

The average unit price for cucumbers in week 27 reached €0.572. Prices were still very low in weeks 24 and 25. With cucumbers selling for only €0.11 per piece, growers were earning very little despite high production levels.
For another greenhouse salad vegetable—lettuce—the market remains challenging. Since mid-May, prices have been well below the five-year average and continue to lag behind those of the past two years. However, prices for several other lettuce varieties improved in week 27, including greenhouse-grown Lollo Bionda. The price per head reached €0.432 in week 27, up from €0.27 in week 26.

The average price for vine tomatoes in week 27 stood at €0.61 per kilo. Loose tomatoes fetched €0.653 per kilo.
