India: New greenhouse foundations laid at Khimber

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Nigeen Lake Conservation Organization (NLCO) reaffirmed its commitment to "action over words" by laying the foundation for Green Houses in Khimber, Srinagar, to promote sustainable and eco-friendly practices.

The event was organized in collaboration with Bilaliya Educational Institute (BEI) and saw enthusiastic participation from hundreds of school students, teachers, and academics.

Manzoor Wangnoo, Chairman of NLCO and BEI, highlighted the importance of such practical initiatives. He stated: "This greenhouse, once completed, will contribute to boosting horticulture and floriculture activities in the area. This is a step toward empowering youth by opening up alternative economic avenues beyond traditional sectors like tourism. It will also help our students reconnect with nature in meaningful ways."

Dr. Margoob praised this pragmatic step by NLCO and appreciated Wangnoo's dedication to environmental restoration and awareness, especially at a time when communities need to explore sustainable alternatives in agriculture and related fields. The program concluded with a collective pledge by the students and attendees to promote eco-consciousness, adopt sustainable practices, and work together for a greener, cleaner Kashmir.
