Job market at Kwekerij Moors on June 10

"It is important that we put ourselves in the spotlight"

Starting this year, Kwekerij Moors has consolidated all its pepper cultivation at four neighboring locations in Asten-Heusden. Last year, the family business successfully acquired additional land, enabling phased growth. This ambitious company took its first growth step this year, expanding by 6 hectares. The expansion has also led to new job opportunities. To introduce these positions, Kwekerij Moors is hosting a Job Market on the evening of Tuesday, June 10, inviting people to come and learn more in an accessible setting.

"We want to demonstrate that there's much more to do within a horticultural company than people often realize," says owner Hannie Moors, who runs the business with her husband, Rob. This isn't the first job fair for Kwekerij Moors. "We've been doing this for a few years. It's like 'Come into the Greenhouse,' but focused specifically on employment opportunities."

The success story of the handyman
In the family business, which celebrated its fiftieth anniversary last year, new positions have been established over recent years—roles that didn't exist before. "I think we're too big to be considered small and too small to be considered large," says Hannie. "We've now reached a significant size, leading to the creation of new roles and opportunities for growth."

Aloys, a colleague who can attest to these changes, previously worked for Kwekerij Moors. After an accident left him partially disabled, the pepper grower couldn't initially offer him a suitable position, as they were too small at the time. However, with the recent growth and expansion, new opportunities have emerged, and Aloys has returned to Kwekerij Moors as a handyman.

Family business with ambition
The decision to expand was made "very consciously" at the North Brabant family business, yet they remain committed to their family core values. "We want to continue knowing all our employees personally and maintain a bond with everyone," says the owner. At the same time, Kwekerij Moors aims to be an innovative company. "Our growth allows for more room for innovations and gives us more capacity to guide and support our team."

Hannie and Rob's eldest son is currently pursuing an education at HAS and might be interested in eventually taking over the company. A few years ago, he initiated the home sale of 'fresh peppers.' "We always want to stay young and innovative, which is why we choose to work with students. It keeps us youthful, too. We have ambitions and want to continue moving forward."

With the job market, Kwekerij Moors aims to capture the interest of those who might drive past their company daily without knowing the opportunities it offers. The average person often has no idea what goes on inside a greenhouse. To address this, Hannie actively engages on social media, showcasing in a light-hearted manner that they are 'the best pepper company in the Netherlands.' She emphasizes that organizing a job market is crucial not just for their business, but for the entire greenhouse horticulture sector. "It's important for us to put ourselves in the spotlight," she notes.

The job market at Kwekerij Moors is scheduled for June 10, from 6 to 9 pm. Representatives from all divisions within the pepper cultivation company, which includes its own pepper packaging, biomass plant management, and technical services, will be available to guide interested individuals. While you can register with Hannie, it's not mandatory. Coffee will be provided for everyone, as Hannie jokingly assures, "I'll take care of that."
