Swedish restaurant chain Holy Greens has expanded its commitment to locally sourced ingredients by signing a new agreement with Odlarlaget, a leading Swedish producer organization for greenhouse-grown vegetables. This agreement secures the supply of Swedish-grown tomatoes from Elleholms Tomatodling AB in Mörrum for Holy Greens' 30 restaurant locations across the country.

Earlier this year, Holy Greens replaced imported cucumbers with locally grown alternatives from Odlarlaget, a move aimed at reducing the environmental impact of its supply chain. The new agreement for tomatoes represents another step in the company's ongoing shift toward Swedish-grown produce.
Deliveries of locally grown tomatoes from Elleholms Tomatodling AB are set to begin in May. These tomatoes are cultivated using advanced greenhouse techniques, including the use of excess heat from nearby industries, which reduces energy consumption. This method is part of Odlarlaget's sustainability strategy, ensuring a reliable supply of fresh, Swedish-grown vegetables even during the colder months.

Sandra Eriksson, Head of Product and Quality at Holy Greens, emphasized the company's focus on minimizing climate impact while maintaining ingredient quality. The transition to locally grown produce aligns with customer expectations for sustainable menu options.
Magnus Nilsson, CEO of Odlarlaget, highlighted the shared objective of promoting Swedish, sustainably produced food. He noted that the addition of locally grown tomatoes complements the existing supply of Swedish cucumbers already used in Holy Greens' salads.
