In Australia, Rijk Zwaan is getting a new seed production facility. Van der Hoeven Horticultural Projects is constructing the facility, with SchermNed providing, installing, and supervising the installation of single and double screen systems, rolling wall screens, and insect nets.
Due to the significant time difference and the complexity of the project, SchermNed developed an additional assembly manual alongside the basic preparations and guidance. "The collaboration between a good SchermNed assembly team on-site, the cooperation with the greenhouse builder, our project manager, and 3D draftsman/planner makes the difference," say Marc van der Knaap, project manager, and Martin Hartsuiker, draftsman and planner at SchermNed. "Our assembly team could start immediately and could quickly adapt, even without direct contact."
A challenge was the combination of horizontal screens with intermediate walls. In consultation with Van der Hoeven, a smart construction was developed to ensure smooth and safe installation. Logistically, everything is well-coordinated. SchermNed's Topspin aerial work platform—stationed in Australia—could quickly reach the construction site, fully complying with local requirements. With weekly coordination between the Netherlands and Australia, the project is well on track. "We are proud of the collaboration and look forward to a successful screen installation and delivery," conclude Marc and Martin.
