Zeljko Fabijanic from Surplus Systems GmbH:

"Exportability makes Ernte-Box interesting for the international market"

Strawberries are one of the most popular seasonal fruits in Germany. On average, around 3.7 kilograms are consumed per person each year. The strawberry harvest lasts from May to the end of July, but raspberries, blackberries, and cherries are also very popular with consumers and are harvested from July to September.

The Bonn-based company Surplus Systems successfully launched the Ernte-Box some time ago and has enjoyed consistently high demand ever since. Zeljko Fabijanic (right), Sales Manager International, explains: "The boxes are currently used primarily for the strawberry harvest. As seasonal workers for the harvest are increasingly hard to find, more and more producers are turning to self-picking. The popularity of pick-your-own fields is growing, and the Ernte-Box is becoming an inconspicuous but indispensable helper. It is a sturdy, reusable container that is ideal for delicate fruits such as strawberries, raspberries, and blackberries, but also for other types of fruit and vegetables."

Reduction of bruising
The Ernte-Box is currently the only container of its kind on the market. "Its features clearly set it apart from conventional solutions. It was developed specifically for use in fruit harvesting and represents a real innovation. A solid partition prevents unnecessary bruising, and the 6 mm ventilation holes ensure that water does not accumulate – an important advantage for delicate berries," emphasizes Fabijanic. Thanks to its ingenious shape, the box is easy to carry by the handle and can also be stacked securely.

"Our Ernte-Box has not only established itself in the agricultural sector, but has also found a firm place in the home improvement industry. In addition, the product is exportable, which also makes it interesting for international markets," says the Bonn-based company. The exact external dimensions of the Ernte-Box are 300 × 200 × 133 mm. The box has a volume of four liters and can hold around two kilograms of berries. "The box sets new standards in the field of harvest containers. It impresses with its practical handling, durability, and sustainability. It is indispensable wherever efficiency, quality, and environmental awareness are required."

Acting in compliance with the law
"The boxes are made of PPS (polyphenylene sulfide), are 100 percent recyclable, and are not subject to packaging regulations as they are reusable containers. The box is particularly environmentally friendly and resource-efficient. This is a clear advantage for companies that are committed to sustainable packaging solutions and want to comply with the law," concludes Zeljko.

In addition to the Ernte-Box, the company also offers folding containers for the fruit and vegetable sector. Although these are already available from many manufacturers, they complement the existing range and offer an additional practical solution for transporting and storing fruit and vegetables.
