Hortyfruta deactivates the Standard Extension for aubergine

After evaluating the market situation of long black aubergine, Hortyfruta, Andalusia's Fruit and Vegetable Inter-branch organization, has decided to deactivate the Quality Standard Extension in conventional agriculture for fresh consumption.

On March 25, Hortyfruta activated the Quality Standard Extension for long black aubergines. This measure suspended the marketing of class II long black aubergines for fresh consumption.

The lifting of the ban provides some breathing space for the market and benefits both growers and buyers.

Hortyfruta will continue to closely monitor the market to ensure quality and maintain the sector's competitive position. Currently, the organization is paying extra attention to courgettes, as supply increased considerably in week 15. This rise is partly due to the variable weather conditions over the past few weeks, which impacted production. Hortyfruta's Crisis Committee noted that, traditionally, the courgette harvest and sales peak between weeks 14 and 18.
