"We do sell more fresh herbs, but we tend to sell more of everything at Easter"

In South Australia, it's very popular at Easter to go away for the long weekend, if you can, to the surrounding country towns. "Barbecue lunches and family gatherings on a Sunday are popular. It's also orthodox Easter at the same time this year, so celebrations are a plenty," said Anthony De Ieso from Thorndon Park Produce.

"There is not an obvious increase in any one product for Easter, more a general increase in everything as is typical with public holidays. There are many public holidays in a row, so the increase seems a lot larger due to fewer trading days.

"We do sell more fresh herbs, but we tend to sell more of everything. I think fresh herbs like parsley sell more as it is used in those fresh salads for barbecues, which is very popular in Australia, no matter what time of year."

The weather conditions have not been ideal, 'horrible' is how Anthony describes them. "We've had a strangely hot autumn with temperatures still in the 30s and strong winds, and we desperately need rain."
