UK: Train services delayed because of "greenhouse on track"

Railway services have been disrupted due to a greenhouse being blown onto the tracks in Surrey. Southern said the obstruction had been reported on the tracks between Redhill and Purley at about 06:00 BST on Wednesday.

Network Rail staff have since removed the greenhouse, but 15 minute delays to services between East Croydon and Redhill are expected.

"Some damage to the track needs to be inspected by specialist staff, and as such, services have to be run at a reduced speed over the section until this has been done," a Southern spokesperson added.

Disruption is expected until 09:30.
