Sustainable and environmentally friendly cultivation is the direction PATS aims for. In theory, it sounds simple. "Search for 'sustainable cultivation' and the search engine overwhelms you with models, methods, and advice. But the practice? It is stubborn. How do you preventively combat a pest? When do you start intervening? And who ensures that all interventions are carefully recorded and evaluated for effectiveness?" Bram Tijmons, CEO & co-founder of PATS discusses it.
Recording actions and drawing the right conclusions takes time, attention, and structure, something that is often lacking in the busy season. That's why PATS now completes the circle with the PATS-Calendar. "The Calendar is your digital logbook for tracking, planning, and evaluating interventions against pests. Here you easily record which actions you have taken: which agent you have used, where and when."© PATSThe PATS-C and Trap-Eye dashboard
Sustainable cultivation requires smart tools
"At PATS, we understand your challenges. That's why we have been offering advanced solutions like PATS-C and Trap-Eye for years to monitor almost all flying pest insects in the greenhouse," he explains.
"PATS-C observes your greenhouse every night and accurately records which pest moths are present and how the pest develops from day to day. Think of the Turkish moth, the Duponchelia moth, and the African fruit moth (FCM). Every morning, you get clear insights for each pest based on objective data."
Trap-Eye, developed in collaboration with Biobest, monitors smaller insects including whitefly and thrips fully automatically. "With 40 measurement points per hectare, you can see exactly where the pressure in the greenhouse is rising and when you need to take action."© PATSThe Calendar. On July 25, this user applied a crop protection product.
The next step: PATS-Calendar
Detecting, identifying, and monitoring is the starting point and is widely available from PATS, regardless of the crop or location. "And from now on, with the Calendar, you can easily record which actions you have taken: which agent you have used, against which pest, where, and when. Then you can see at a glance what the effect was and how the pest pressure developed before and after your intervention. This way, you can easily link the actions you have taken to the actual effect. Looking back, learning, improving, and looking forward again. This makes it increasingly easier to work preventively against emerging pests."
Calendar offers:
- Insight into the use of agents linked to pest pressure
- Evaluation of the effectiveness per action
- More control over timing and strategy
- A calmer and more sustainable cultivation process

The application of a crop protection product on July 25 had a visible effect: the development of the next generation of moths was significantly inhibited, with a halving of activity in the subsequent generation (wave).
From manual to guidance
With PATS-Calendar, actions and processes become not only smarter but also much calmer, according to Bram. No loose notes, yellowed paper schedules, retyping in Excel sheets, but a central place where everything comes together: data, actions, and results.
"And who knows, what is still registration today, may soon form the basis for automatic predictions of important pest moments and the best intervention moments for your situation."
