Ceres Greenhouse Solutions CEO responds to customer uncertainty:

Flexible supply chain model gives stability in tariff uncertainty

As global material costs rise and supply chains face increased pressure, customers are looking for clarity and assurance. Chris Uhlig, CEO of Ceres Greenhouse Solutions, addressed these concerns directly in a recent video message.

"Customers have been reaching out to us and asking questions like, 'Are there price increases coming? What is happening?' Here is the good news," he continues, "at Ceres Greenhouse Solutions, we made a conscious decision in 2011 when we set up the company to not manufacture our own products, but to set up a supply chain that allows us to deliver our greenhouses that are focused on energy efficiency worldwide with a local supply chain."

A business model that can adapt
This early decision to avoid in-house manufacturing has become one of Ceres' biggest assets. Instead of being dependent on a centralized production facility, Ceres developed a distributed supply chain model that prioritizes flexibility and proximity to customers.

"If you're in the U.S., the materials that we are delivering to you come from the U.S. If you're in Canada, we will be delivering materials from Canada—or wherever it makes sense," Chris says. "We can use our global supply chain to tap into European suppliers or into Asian suppliers where it makes sense."

Minimizing the impact of global trade challenges
Global trade challenges—from tariffs to shipping delays—have made material sourcing more unpredictable for many construction and infrastructure projects. But Ceres' adaptable supply chain design means fewer disruptions for their clients. "Our business model is different. And our business model allows us to circumvent or avoid a lot of these duties that are coming from materials that are crossing borders."

Keeping projects on track
Even when projects are already underway, Ceres' system allows them to respond rapidly to shifting circumstances. "Current projects that are going on—where materials are being delivered, have already been delivered, maybe partially, others are still coming—we're able to stay on track."

Local sourcing, global reach
Ceres' ability to draw on both local and international suppliers gives them a unique advantage. This global-local approach supports the company's mission to deliver sustainable, energy-efficient greenhouses while adapting to regional needs. "What that allows us to do," Chris says, "is make decisions that are not only more environmentally sound, but also economically practical for our clients, wherever they are."

"That's the main message today," he concludes. "Just to address customer concerns, potential clients' concerns: our business model is built to handle situations like this."
