Local Roots has announced the acquisition of Future Farms in Baldwin, Wisconsin. The new site will expand the company's hydroponic production capacity, with a focus on living butterhead and romaine lettuces. The Wisconsin facility complements Local Roots' existing site in Michigan, which cultivates a range of herbs using hydroponic systems.

With this expansion, Local Roots brings its lettuce production in-house, centralizing cultivation and logistics. The Baldwin facility will increase the company's ability to meet demand and maintain supply to retail partners, alongside stated targets of 97% order fill rates.
The acquisition is part of a broader capacity increase as Local Roots responds to changes in the leafy greens market and consumer demand. Company representatives noted that this is a step toward a longer-term strategy to scale controlled-environment production across the Midwest.
Local Roots acknowledged the role of internal teams, partners, and buyers in supporting the transition.
