India: Officials kick start Hi-Tech vegetable seedling sales

Additional District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone in the presence of Chief Agriculture Officer, Shopian, Farooq Ahmed and other officials of the Agriculture department kick-started the sale of Hi-Tech vegetable seedlings at Shopian, on April 3.

The sale of seedlings including Cauliflower, Cabbage, broccoli and other vegetables was held at Green House, Mini Secretariat, organized by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shopian. The sale witnessed an overwhelming response of vegetable growers from Shopian and adjacent areas.

Interacting with the growers, ADDC said that the department is committed to promoting the Kitchen Garden endeavor and aims at providing quality vegetable seedlings to the growers for better economic turnover.

He impressed upon the department to promote kitchen gardening in such a way that growers get more and more benefits. On the occasion, it was emphasized that vegetable cultivation has a good potential of employment generation and the unemployed youth of the district with the help of modern technology and suitable agro-climatic conditions for vegetable cultivation in the Valley can take it to new heights.
