Eamonn Creane of Greenhill Fruit Farm has applied to Wexford County Council to construct a road underpass and strawberry tunnels in order to expand his strawberry farming operations at Ballyeden, The Leap.
Greenhill Fruit Farm has been a family-run fruit farm over three generations and has been recognized for its focus on sustainability and biodiversity, securing them an invite to Áras an Uachtaráin in 2023.
In the cover letter supporting the application, Jim Kavanagh of Kavanagh Design Services outlined the level of work associated with this type of development. The proposed application is to extend the existing strawberry enterprise owned by Mr Creane to the west of the regional road which he also owns.
A schedule of works with specific regard to road closures, traffic management and a detailed specification would be agreed with the Roads Area Engineer prior to the commencement of development. This would include dates and duration of proposed works.
