Lviv agrarians launch "Daughter greenhouses" program to solve vegetable sales issues

A Lviv-based company in Ukraine, Green Wave, specializing in growing vegetables in vertical greenhouses, has launched a new initiative called the "Daughter Greenhouses" program. This initiative is designed to help private producers overcome the challenges of vegetable sales by taking on the distribution process themselves, leaving their partners with only the final growth phase.

In an article for a local magazine, Green Wave co-owner Volodymyr Novyi explained that the company, known for its production of salads and greens, offers private farms the opportunity to become part of their network through the "Daughter Greenhouses" model. The company fully equips the greenhouses, provides seedlings and cultivation technology, and takes on the responsibility of selling the finished product.

"We grow the plants to a certain stage, where the main agronomic risks have already been mitigated," explains a representative from Green Wave. "The last 15 days of growth happen directly at the point of sale. This way, our partners don't have to deal with sales challenges."

One of the major issues facing Ukraine's agricultural market is fierce competition, where price dumping is the main tactic for attracting customers. Green Wave aims to change this approach by centralizing sales and ensuring consistent demand for its partners.

"If a competitor opens a store next to yours with lower prices, you lose customers," says the agrarian. "We control production volumes to avoid market oversaturation. Our daughter farms are designed to meet 50% of the potential demand, while the rest is covered by our main farm."

This model allows private producers to enter the market with minimal risk while ensuring stable income. Currently, the program is operational in the Lviv region, with potential for expansion into other areas.
