Indo-Dutch collaboration unlocks new opportunities for fresh food

What does the future of food look like for India? Pioneers from the Netherlands in sustainable greenhouse horticulture believe the answer lies in smart collaboration. By connecting the best of Dutch solutions with India's dynamic agri-market, we can make high-quality, sustainable, and profitable fresh produce available for everyone—year-round.

This April, Dutch greenhouse experts from the HortiRoad2India public-private partnership are back in Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. This new trade mission will focus on one thing: turning projects from Indian agri-entrepreneurs into viable business cases with market guarantees.

India faces increasing demand for safe, residue-free, high-quality fresh produce. With smart technology and strong partnerships, these products can be grown locally, using fewer resources, with less waste, and better shelf life—helping both consumers and the economy. The Netherlands is globally recognized for its efficient, high-output greenhouse horticulture systems. Through HortiRoad2India, Dutch companies are ready to co-develop new food systems tailored for India's retail, food service, and export sectors. HortiRoad2India is led by Dutch Greenhouse Delta, Innovation Quarter, and Rotterdam Partners, and supported by the government of the Netherlands.

The HortiRoad2India delegation will travel to Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai. In each city, the team will work closely with local agri-entrepreneurs, retailers, investors, and government representatives to strengthen promising horticulture projects. Together, they will refine business models, explore offtake partnerships, and assess how regional infrastructure and financial tools can support scalable, year-round production of high-quality fresh produce. These business cases will be pitched to relevant banks and investors.
