Just ahead of the GreenTech Americas event, Plant Empowerment organized a two-day course at the Tec de Monterrey in Querétaro, Mexico. Held on March 24–25, the event brought together growers, industry experts, and investors to share knowledge and explore sustainable growing techniques designed specifically for Mexico's unique climate and agricultural challenges.
A strong return to Mexico
Plant Empowerment returned to Querétaro, where one of the first large-scale implementations of Plant Empowerment principles took place between 2018 and 2020 at United Farms. That pioneering trial project demonstrated remarkable resource efficiency improvements and profitability gains and set the stage for the growing interest in sustainable horticulture practices across Mexico.
The two-day course was designed to address challenges in Mexican horticulture, such as water management, cost efficiency, and adapting to high-temperature environments. Besides these topics, the program focused on the essentials for optimal crop cultivation, which is the core of the philosophy of Plant Empowerment.

One of the courses focused on the root zone, recognized as the foundation of any strong plant, and how irrigation strategies can be managed effectively. Data-driven growing was a key theme throughout the event, including innovative shading and coating techniques to help growers better control climate conditions. Other highlights included the interaction between light and irrigation, strategies for sustainable pest and disease control, and practical tips and tools to turn Plant Empowerment theory into practice.
The second day ended with a Q&A session where two Mexican growers, Finka and Agrico, both shared their firsthand experiences in implementing the Plant Empowerment principles within their operations. The atmosphere throughout the course was highly interactive, with participants taking an active role in discussions and demonstrating an eagerness to learn and apply new insights.
Participants had the opportunity to learn directly from top consultants from the partners representing: LetsGrow.com, Hoogendoorn Growth Management, Koppert, Svensson, Lumiforte, Van der Ende Group, Cultilene, and Kekkilä-BVB.
