Edge Hill University is holding a one-day workshop entitled: Future State Workshop of UK Protected Edibles.
The UK-protected edible sector is a vital component of the nation's food security and agricultural economy. As the demand for locally grown, sustainable produce continues to rise, this sector has proven to be a critical part of the UK's commitment to enhancing food security, reducing carbon footprints, and supporting rural economies. Despite its importance, the sector faces a range of complex challenges that threaten its long-term viability and growth potential.
Given the diversity of challenges and the need for coordinated action, the need for a workshop that brings together these stakeholders has never been more pressing. This one-day event will provide a crucial platform for addressing these issues, offering a space for open dialogue. The primary aim of the workshop is to create a cohesive set of recommendations that reflect the sector's needs and priorities. These recommendations will be carefully compiled into a comprehensive document that will be shared with Parliament, ensuring that the voices of those working at the coalface of protected edible production are heard at the highest levels of government.

The workshop is scheduled for Friday, 16 May 2025, from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. It will be held at Edge Hill University and is free of charge.
