Zentralverband Gartenbau:

"Economic policy should promote innovation, sustainability and competitiveness in equal measure"

The German Zentralverband Gartenbau welcomes the agreement on the special fund, a financial mechanism recently established by the German government to address various economic challenges and promote initiatives in infrastructure and climate measures.

Now, a new government must be formed quickly so that the necessary economic policy decisions can be tackled swiftly, the ZVG says. "Our industry needs a new, reliable economic policy direction that promotes innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness in equal measure," emphasizes ZVG President Eva Kähler-Theuerkauf.

"We call on the future federal government to pursue a business-friendly policy that creates targeted relief for companies and supports investments in future-oriented technologies." The provision of additional capital via the special fund must now be promptly implemented in infrastructure programs and climate measures – "but not according to the shot gun approach," said Kähler-Theuerkauf. Rather, the focus should be on targeted financing.

For the ZVG, this explicitly includes investments in green infrastructure. "The increase in the Climate Transformation Fund contributes to long-term economic stability. In addition, it must be ensured that the federal program for energy efficiency – also considering the so-called additionality criterion – is better equipped to specifically promote targeted measures in horticulture."
