NL: New greenhouse project expected to be completed in June

The construction of Opti-Flor's 3.3-hectare greenhouse in Monster, the Netherlands, is still on schedule. The innovative greenhouse is set to be completed in June, with commissioning beginning immediately afterward. The major relocation of the first Phalaenopsis plants is planned for week 33. With this new construction, Opti-Flor is making a significant step toward more efficient and sustainable cultivation.

The greenhouse is packed with technological innovations and smart installations. The building envelope is completely sealed, and the energy center is primarily mechanically equipped. Following the completion of welding work in two weeks, the electrical connection will be established, along with the installation of the cooling system. The second excavation phase for the shallow piping has been successfully completed, and all concrete floors in the sheds have been poured. The installation of the Erfgoed Floor has been underway for five weeks and is progressing steadily, with cooling preparations to follow. WPS has also started assembling the buffer system.

The greenhouse is equipped with advanced heating and cooling systems. In the warm cultivation department, 36 AVS units ensure efficient air handling and dehumidification. In the cooler sections, Certhon's JSK units play an important role in regulating temperature and moisture under the cultivation tables. To optimize energy needs, a linked hot and cold storage tank has been installed. Initially, the greenhouse will be heated with a CHP installation and will be connected to the geothermal network in the Westland area starting in 2027.

The screening installations are also innovative. The highly diffusing greenhouse roof features an advanced external screen for temperature control and easy maintenance. Under the roof, three movable screens provide energy savings, light regulation, and blackout capability.

All involved parties are working hard to meet the tight schedule and complete the final installations. Thanks to close collaboration, the completion is within reach, preparing Opti-Flor for a new phase in sustainable Phalaenopsis cultivation.
