The company Röwşen AGRO has started building a greenhouse complex to grow citrus fruits and bananas in the Mary velayat of Turkmenistan.
To carry out this ambitious initiative, the government of Turkmenistan has allocated 50 hectares of land in the Vekilbazar district. Construction crews are working at an accelerated pace, actively developing 12 hectares, as reported by the newspaper Rysgal on Monday.
The company plans to launch the greenhouse complex in phases and equip it with modern technologies. This project is expected to bring both economic and social benefits. By opening the complex, the company will create hundreds of new jobs for young people and provide residents with environmentally friendly citrus fruits at affordable prices.

Turkmenistan is pursuing this initiative as part of its strategy to develop the agro-industrial sector and reduce dependence on food imports. Röwşen AGRO, owned by the private enterprise Röwşen, established the greenhouse complex in 2021. The company specializes in growing fresh vegetables like tomatoes and cucumbers using advanced agricultural technologies. It sources elite seeds from Türkiye and the Netherlands. Röwşen AGRO primarily supplies the Turkmenistan market but also exports part of its harvest to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Russia.
