Only cherries left at grower Gijs:

"For years I worked 60-70 hour work weeks"

With brief online notice on its own channels, Van Herk Fruit from Heinenoord recently announced its immediate closure. The company is closing its home shop after a quarter of a century. The strawberry and raspberry cultivation stops. Gijs will continue with cherries for a while, he told the AD. From now on, the cherries will go to wholesalers. Gijs and his wife Dianne simply want more time for other things. There was no successor. "For years, I worked 60- to 70-hour work weeks. If I could have kept myself busy growing strawberries three days a week, I might have continued."
