Mexico: Plantanova to host Open Day in leadup to GreenTech Americas

Mexican-Dutch plant propagation specialist Plantanova will be supporting its presence at the upcoming GreenTech Americas 2025 exhibition, which takes place in Querétaro, Mexico, from March 25-27, with a special, invitation-only parallel event at its recently renovated facility in Tuxpan, Michoacán.

Taking place on March 21, Plantanova will be hosting an Open House day at the site, where visitors will be able to witness and learn about the radical transformation that the flagship facility has undergone since it initially closed for renovation in November 2024.

Plantanova's General Manager, Pharis Rico, said: "The Open House will generate interest in what we do both for existing customers and potential customers interested in our facility in Michoacán."

According to Plantanova COO Tania Sierra Torres, the event will highlight Plantanova's expertise in high-quality, high-production tomato and bell pepper plants, as well as the different kinds of substrate that the company offers.

"We deliver the best in varietal genetics for every plant we produce," she added.

A focus on plant propagation
However, Plantanova's plans are not just limited to external events. During GreenTech Americas 2025 itself, the company will have a presence across two booths—one covering Plantanova and a second focused on its sister company, HortiConnect.

Rico continued: "We will be showcasing the technological investments we have made over the past four years in specialized machinery and equipment for plant propagation, and we will also be highlighting how we develop and adapt technologies to the conditions on the ground in Mexico."

"The Plantanova booth will help visitors understand what Plantanova is as a company and what we do through information and videos. We also hope to offer something in the way of virtual reality, so visitors can virtually tour our new facilities."

Meanwhile, the HortiConnect area will feature some of the companies that have been involved in Plantanova's ambitious renovation project in recent months. Visitors will be able to learn more about innovative PARperfect light-management screens from Ludvig Svensson, systems for artificial light, and cutting-edge climate management solutions.

In addition to Ludvig Svensson, the featured companies will include Flier Systems, Martin Stolze, Red Horticulture, Van der Valk Horti Systems, Digivation, and Cultilene, all of which offer new ideas and concepts for plant propagation.

Ahead of the event, Richard van de Waart, Vice President for International Business at Martin Stolze, has been announced as the newest member of Plantanova's Advisory Board.

He said, "I was thrilled when Pharis asked me to join the Advisory Board of Plantanova. I have worked with Pharis for a number of years, and it has always been a pleasure. Joining the Advisory Board will bolster Martin Stolze's presence in the Mexican market. Additionally, the expertise and insights from my fellow Advisory Board members will be invaluable to me on a global scale."

Van de Waart continued, "The Mexican market is really just at the beginning of the curve; it's going to be growing on all sorts of levels. We have so much knowledge from Dutch horticulture, and it's important to bring the right solutions that the Mexican market needs."

"Pharis and Plantanova have been early adopters of the new technological solutions that we are bringing from the Netherlands to Mexico through the recently opened Plantanova Netherlands office at the World Horti Center."
