Gregal's VisionAgro: 25 years of know-how and a global technology partner

"More and more managers see technology as an ally to improve their day-to-day management"

Together with a global technological partner such as Microsoft, the company Gregal, which has extensive know-how in the sector, has launched VisionAgro, an integrated information system for the control and management of all processes in fruit and vegetable plants, from the monitoring of treatments, harvesting and reception, and storage and packaging to the product's marketing and shipment to its final destination.

"We have spent more than 25 years backing agri-food companies in their digital transformation, helping entrepreneurs manage their fields as a 4.0 industry and to work not with standard costs, but with real costs and the most thorough information to improve management to the fullest, allowing for cost savings and increased efficiency," says Jairo Hernández, CEO of Gregal.

"With VisionAgro, we offer the sector an ERP with the outstanding value of our extensive experience and know-how, as well as all Microsoft tools and R&D to improve and complement our tool, and thus meet all the needs of our customers."

Familiarity with Microsoft's Office automation tools is an advantage when using Gregal's solution, as these are natively integrated, "which saves a lot of time and improves user productivity," says Jairo. "Also, working with Microsoft allows us to remain at the forefront of all new technologies emerging in the market.

"In addition to having Microsoft's Modern Workplace fully integrated to manage personal productivity, our ERP also includes Power BI to accurately manage the information required at all times and to fully visualize it intuitively.

"We are also implementing AI in certain business processes to further improve the competitiveness of companies and, most importantly, maximize cost savings in all areas: monitoring the traceability cycle, inventory control of products and raw materials, in financial management, human resources, and in commercial management."

Mobile app to directly integrate real-time data into ERP
"We have also improved our ERP by making certain applications mobile; that is to say, there are parts of the business that, given their nature, should be mobile, such as those that can be carried out by field technicians, employees in phytosanitary work on farms, crews, etc. That is why VisionAgro has a set of 15 apps that allow real-time data to be integrated directly into the ERP.

"The digitization of these activities makes it possible to be more agile and boost productivity, minimizing the possibility of subsequent errors. Everyone is familiar with smartphone apps, as well as with Microsoft Office applications, so very little time is needed for users to adapt to our technology during implementation. The interfaces of these apps are very intuitive, user-friendly, and easy to use, and are designed so that any worker, whatever their origin and language, can use them without any problems."

Gregal was founded in Valencia, Spain, in the early 2000s. Initially, it offered solutions that were designed for citrus fruits, kakis, melon/watermelon, and stone fruit, "although little by little, we expanded our business to horticultural produce, as well," says Jairo. "Later, after the purchase of the Orisha group, we saw how the use of our software could be extended to various agri-food sub-sectors, including oil mills, wine, livestock, and cereal companies, positioning our solutions much more strategically and strongly in all agri-food sectors."

"These are very different sectors, but they have two things in common: the management of many of their processes is carried out parallelly, and in all of them we find more and more managers who see technology as an ally to improve their day-to-day management."
