In Vietnam, the market is developing slowly, both for local consumption and for export to countries such as China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. There is increasing awareness of reducing pesticide use. This became clear during the first two days of the Hortex tradeshow, currently taking place in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. The doors of the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) opened yesterday.
After the show we'll provide you with a full photo report, but here are some stats. The market faces challenges, including inflation, which keeps the costs of purchases high. This affects companies and individuals, with savings not always sufficient for investments. There are few external investors active. Large production locations are mainly in the hands of wealthy owners, while many smaller companies also operate.
Irrigation remains a point of attention. Automation is used to a limited extent, mainly due to low labour costs. At trade fairs, the visitor profile mainly consists of Vietnamese, with a few Chinese and Taiwanese visitors. Monday you can see all photos taken at the show!
