Nigerian government officials inspect greenhouse site

The Kano State Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Hashim Dahiru, has inspected the greenhouse site at Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Danbatta, as part of efforts to strengthen climate-resilient agriculture in the state.

Dr. Dahiru, who also chairs the State Steering Committee on ACReSAL, emphasized the college's vital role in promoting climate-smart agriculture amid growing challenges affecting food production. He noted that the visit was to assess the institution's request for a greenhouse and solarization, ensuring the necessary infrastructure is in place.

He assured that the greenhouse project would serve as a training hub for students in climate-smart and urban agriculture while also generating revenue for the college. Beneficiaries of ACReSAL's agricultural empowerment programs will be required to undergo training and certification at the institution before executing their projects.

The Commissioner also inspected an existing greenhouse and expressed satisfaction with its condition, highlighting that additional greenhouses would enhance student training and revenue generation.

The provost of the college, Prof. M.A. Wailare, appreciated ACReSAL's interventions, including the provision of seedlings for the institution's tree-planting campaign.

ACReSAL remains committed to supporting institutions that drive climate-resilient agriculture in Kano State.
