Strawberry farm Haverkamp has had a field of its own solar panels installed, combined with three electricity storage batteries. "This is because we consume the most energy in the darkest months, and so can make use of our own generated energy," they explained on Facebook.
Mariska and Priscilla Haverkamp officially took over the family business from their parents with effect from 1 January 2024. The plan for the solar field, with possible battery storage, was on the cards. The growers also invested in vending machines.
