NL: Horticoop makes investment in soil specialist

The Horticoop cooperative has made an investment in REKA Group BV, a company specializing in soil improvement using a regenerative approach. REKA, a business committed to the sustainability of the soil ecosystem for the agricultural and horticultural industry, develops, produces and sells soil improvers. In this way, REKA is making a positive contribution to the future of the agricultural and horticultural sector; an ambition that is very much in line with Horticoop's own objectives.

Horticoop is engaged in active investment in businesses that have a positive impact on the agricultural and horticultural sector; investments which are also of benefit to its members. The addition of REKA to the Horticoop portfolio is therefore wholly in accordance with the aims of the cooperative to invest jointly in the future of the sector.

REKA is a carve-out from Koppert Biological Systems and builds upon decades of expertise in soil health and regenerative agriculture. The company started in 2013 as part of Koppert and became an independent entity in 2024. By combining scientific innovation with practical applications, REKA helps farmers and growers worldwide improve yields and achieve sustainable agriculture.

REKA's nutrients, inoculants, and soil stimulants create a fertile foundation for plants, forming the basis of regenerative and future-proof agriculture. By enhancing soil microbiology, REKA improves soil structure and boosts the efficiency of nutrient and water uptake through root development stimulation.

Patrick Groeneveld, Managing Director of Horticoop: 'REKA's products contribute to soil solutions which enhance the long-term sustainability of agriculture and horticulture, as well as supporting more sustainable worldwide food production. This aligns closely with Horticoop's ambition to realize a future-proof horticultural sector, and as REKA shareholders, we are proud to also be pulling our weight'.

Aron Oosthoek, Managing Director of REKA: 'By virtue of our collaboration with the Horticoop investment cooperative and its members, we can actively contribute to a healthy soil with strong and resilient plants. This constitutes a solid foundation for a future-proof agricultural and horticultural sector'.
