A test with full-LED growth lamps from Climalux, carried out by HortiTech in the PROOF research center with the tomato variety Martice on rock wool, demonstrated that the Climalux growth light system provides a saving of over 30% compared to the reference department with the same electricity consumption, the same light intensity, and a comparable light spectrum.
In addition to the energy saving, a higher uptake of water and nutrients was observed, which affected the growth of the plants. The plants in the Climalux department appeared to be stronger, fuller, and more powerful than in the reference.
For the comparison, LED lamps with an identical color spectrum and the same electrical power were hung in the reference department. Both departments were equipped with the same technology. With the climate settings, watering and planting activities, an identical crop was aimed for in both departments. The plant measurements started in week 46 and were carried out weekly. Leaf samples were also taken to gain insight into the nutrient uptake. The full test report can be viewed on the Climalux website at the link here.
All Climalux grow lights are composed of a dimmable lighting unit and a vertical ventilation system, which distributes heat and moisture evenly in the greenhouse. This system not only cools the LEDs effectively, but also moves the air approximately four times per hour.
