Ready for HortiContact 2025? Here's what to do

The countdown can begin, HortiContact 2025 is just around the corner. Next week, the Evenementenhal in Gorinchem will again fill up with horticultural suppliers and, hopefully, many growers. In addition to an extensive exhibition floor with almost 300 exhibitors, there is an extensive program. For example, Infrastructure & Water Management Minister Barry Madlener will present the Water Quality Innovation Award and there will be a first in the field of container batteries.

On Thursday 20 February 2025, during HortiContact, the award for the best innovation in water quality and water management will be presented by Minister Barry Madlener (Infrastructure & Water Management) and Adri Bom-Lemstra (chairman Greenports Netherlands and Glastuinbouw Nederland). The award ceremony takes place in the KasLokaal (Energy & Sustainability Pavilion) and highlights innovations that contribute to more sustainable water use in the greenhouse horticulture sector.

First 4.5 MWh Huawei container battery in Benelux
The horticulture sector is making great strides in the energy transition towards sustainable and efficient energy use. During HortiContact 2025, on 18, 19 and 20 February, the first 4.5 MWh Huawei container battery in the Benelux will be officially ratified. This marks the start of a wider rollout, with 23 MWh of energy storage already on order. The collaboration between Bata Energy Solutions, Wattkraft and Huawei underlines the growing role of sustainable energy storage in the horticultural sector

Knowledge sessions
During HortiContact, there will be the opportunity to learn about the latest innovations and developments in greenhouse horticulture. Knowledge sessions by Plant Empowerment Academy, Artechno, Beanstalk and Vertify, among others, highlight topics such as growing systems of the future, energy saving and the effect of sunlight on crops. Kas als Energiebron also offers a program of workshops on innovation and sustainability in the KasLokaal, a mini greenhouse in the central Energy & Sustainability pavilion.

Topics will include tools for CO₂ optimization, digital cultivation systems, energy saving, and the use of heat pumps. These workshops are offered by Kas als Energiebron, the innovation program of the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV) and Glastuinbouw Nederland.

HortiContact can be visited on Tuesday 18 February from 10 am to 6 pm, on Wednesday 19 February from 1 pm to 9 pm and on Thursday 20 February from 10 am to 6 pm at Evenementenhal Gorinchem.
