US: Preparing for the winter as a greenhouse grower

Winter has yet to run its course, but spring will be here soon enough, and along with it, planting season. For one local farm family, 2025 marks a significant milestone. Only months after wrapping up one of the tougher seasons in the long history of Cherry Rock Farms, owners Marco and Laura Patzer are back in the greenhouse preparing for spring.

"Figuring out what we're going to plant, we're cleaning out greenhouses, we're getting ready for our CSA boxes to start to plant those, so it's really an exciting time of year that we look forward to," Cherry Rock Farms owner Laura Patzer said.

The June flood erased what had been a promising start to the summer of 2024. After the waters receded, the Patzers managed to replant and somewhat salvage the season.

"While it wasn't our best year on record, it's definitely made us stronger and looking forward to a fresh season," Laura Patzer said.
