Hortimec supplies tray flushing system to Latvian LLC Marupes Siltumnicas

"This way trays can be reused"

LLC Marupes Siltumnicas is the largest grower of vegetables under glass in Latvia. They currently grow vegetables on an area of 9.6 ha, including 6 ha for cucumbers and 3.6 ha for tomatoes. The company currently grows three vegetables: cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes.

To be a professional in this field, they want to know and understand every detail of cultivation. And to constantly improve cultivation, they make regular trips to exchange experiences. And especially to the countries where the biggest growers of vegetables under glass are, such as Poland, the Netherlands and Finland. On one such trip, they spoke to KG Greenhouses.

The two struck up a conversation. And that conversation led to a great partnership. Hortimec as a machine supplier, KG Greenhouses, CH2O worked together to meet their demand. Hortimec installed a tray rinsing unit there for LLC Marupes Siltumnicas lettuce cultivation, KG Greenhouses sold it and CH2O supplied the hydrogen peroxide dosing unit.

Hendrik: "It is a sustainable solution. This way, trays can be reused. And what's more, the hydrogen peroxide used dissolves in water and oxygen. We think this is important, because it eliminates the discharge of harmful substances. So this tray flushing installation offers a solution for using less plastic (trays) ánd no harmful substances remain in the water either. Nice, right?"

The trays are first rinsed and then treated with hydrogen peroxide. This substance breaks down into water and oxygen within five minutes, disinfecting the trays in the meantime without leaving harmful residues.
