IPM is on to its second day and although the trade show is all about the achievements of the green sector, there are challenges as well. During the show opening, Eva Kähler-Theuerkauf, President of the Central Horticultural Association (ZVG) and the NRW State Horticultural Association, emphasized the importance of the horticultural trade fair in her speech. The trade show would once again demonstrate the achievements of the green sector. At the same time, she appealed to politicians to optimize the framework conditions: "Horticulture is facing up to climate change and the associated challenges. Now is the time for horticulture to receive the political support it needs."
Minister Gorißen assured: "North Rhine-Westphalia is Germany's number one horticultural state, both in terms of plant production and the wide range of high-quality horticultural services on offer. Here in NRW, the industry also comes together at the most important international horticultural trade fair to present new innovations and to network. We are proud of our strong, vibrant and innovative horticultural industry. The sector will continue to need good framework conditions and planning security in the future. As Minister of Agriculture, I will continue to stand up for our businesses, for example when it comes to reducing bureaucracy. We need more practicable and practical solutions, which is why I hope that the new federal government will show greater commitment to horticultural businesses."
The opening of the trade fair
Some fair words we believe many visitors and exhibitors can agree on. But let's go back to the trade show floor, as that's where the magic happens. Although slightly reclining in numbers of technical exhibitors, the mood was positive yesterday, as the European market is not in high numbers but not down either. We continue to see developments in substrates and other propagation material, with a focus on moving away from peat and plastics. Stay tuned of course, there's more to follow.
Klasmann-Deilmann is one of the companies showing their substrate solutions at IPM 2025. The focus will be on the Advanced substrates and the 'Growbag Advanced' based on alternative raw materials, the 'Growcoon', and, for the first time, the 'Sphaxx'. A lot to talk about - but no stress. "Relax! We take care" is the company's slogan. With 6 keywords. Reliability availability quality know-how sustainability innovation
Plastic free for sure is top of mind at Blackmore. Read more about their Retail Sleeve, and more about their Paper Pot Machine 2.0 here!
Robur and MJ Tech are present at the show, and so is sister company Growtec. We'll update you on their soft fruit collaboration over the next days.
