110 new greenhouses and 85 family farms were established in 2024 with partner support

Expanding greenhouse farming in Penjikent, Tajikistan

In 2024, farmers in Penjikent, Tajikistan planted a total of 30,923.8 hectares of agricultural crops, a 6.6% increase compared to the previous year. Key crops included potatoes, vegetables, fruits, and grapes.

Potato production saw a major boost, with planting areas increasing by 128.1%. This resulted in a harvest of 77,800 tons—3,614 tons more than in 2023. Other crops also showed strong growth: vegetable production rose by 12.2%, fruit yields increased by 35.6%, and grape production doubled.

Greenhouse farming is actively developing in Penjikent. In 2024, 110 permanent greenhouses were established, covering an area of 33,100 square meters, for cultivating lemons, tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, and flowers—an increase of 105 greenhouses compared to last year.

In addition, 85 commercial and family greenhouses were established through partnerships with development organizations.
