Effect of 5G on behaviour of bumblebees in greenhouse tested

Research is currently underway to study the impact of 5G on the behavior of bumblebees. The research is taking place in Tomatoworld's tomato greenhouse.

Additional bumblebee boxes have been strategically placed in the greenhouse at different distances from the 5G antennas. By equipping these boxes with smart sensors, the researchers can measure differences in the behavior of the bumblebees.



This study is being conducted by Job Ammerlaan, a student at De Haagse Hogeschool/The Hague University of Applied Sciences, under the guidance of Sam Aerts, associate lecturer of Smart Sensor Systems, in collaboration with the Do IoT Fieldlab. Tomatoworld partner Koppert is also involved.

5G is a project by RoboCrops, RoboHouse, and the Do IoT Fieldlab, made possible with funding from Metropoolregio Rotterdam Den Haag (MRDH), Gemeente Westland, and Innovatiefonds Hagelunie.
