Cambodian Ministry ponders modern vegetable farming expansion

A senior official for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) yesterday said that the modern vegetable farming community in Takeo province's Tram Kak district will add 100 more net houses in the next two to three months to ensure sustainable supply to the market.

Khim Finan, Undersecretary of State and Spokesperson for MAFF, shared his remarks on social media when he accompanied the trade and marketing partners planning to sign contracts with the modern farming community in Tram Kak district to inspect the community's vegetable production chain.

So far the modern vegetable farming community has reached a stage where it is planning to expand both its production and marketing efforts, he said, adding that this expansion will require greater involvement from both farmers and business partners to build a strong foundation that will provide even greater and broader benefits to vegetable farmers in Tram Kak.

"If nothing changes, the community plans to add another 100 net houses in the next two to three months to ensure a continuous supply to the market and maintain the stability of the community's operations, while offering prices that can compete in the market," said Finan.
