Private equity takeover of Atrium Agri approved by Consume & Market Authority

Private equity party Value Enhancement Partners may acquire indirect sole control of the greenhouse construction consortium Atrium Agri. The Dutch Consumer & Market Authority has approved the transaction.

Atrium Agri wants to accelerate growth with the help of private equity, it was announced at the end of last year. Atrium Agri operates globally and has offices in Europe, China, Australia, North and Central America, and the Middle East.

Value Enhancement Partners is a Netherlands-based investment company. Through its funds, it has interests in various companies, operating in different sectors and mainly based in the Netherlands. According to an overview on its website, the private equity party is not yet active in horticulture.

"With around 375 employees and sales of €225 million in 2023, Atrium Agri has a strong market position and the opportunity to have a leading role in the global transition to sustainable food production. This proposed partnership with significant capital contribution offers us a unique opportunity to accelerate our international growth strategy both organically and through acquisitions," said Marck Hagen, CEO of Atrium Agri. "By combining VEP's investment power and expertise with our innovative solutions and ambition, we strengthen our position as a global market leader and take a big step towards a more sustainable future."
