US: Zordi to upgrade Oakfield Greenhose

Zordi, Inc. says it builds autonomous greenhouses, including one in Oakfield, with robots and artificial intelligence (AI) to make delicious, high-quality produce available anywhere.

"We started in Oakfield, N.Y., as our first R and D (research and development) farm to put our technology, to put our exclusive strawberry varieties right here," said Zordi founder and CEO Dr. Gilwoo Lee. "We've been growing high-quality, super-sweet strawberries and selling them to Manhattan, New York, and New Jersey markets since 2022."

Since being awarded $250,000 through the Grow-NY Food and Agriculture Business Competition in November, Zordi plans to make changes at its greenhouse in Oakfield.

"It's certainly a very exciting opportunity to be part of the Grow-NY community and to win $250,000," Lee said. "Our plan is to really upgrade this Oakfield facility to be our nursery, to start growing plants, healthy plants to be sent to our production and also to our partner firms in the northeast and in California. We're hiring new people. We're discussing upgrading internally with our construction partner in Oakfield. I think that's where most of it will go in."
