Uzbekistan's state gas supplier Hududgazta'minot has introduced temporary restrictions on gas supply to greenhouses due to a sharp drop in temperatures, causing increased demand and lower gas pressure in pipelines.
On December 12, a letter from Hududgazta'minot's Samarkand branch informed greenhouse operators of a mandatory 50% gas supply reduction. The company emphasized that ensuring gas for households and social facilities remains the top priority.
According to government regulations, greenhouses must maintain reserves of alternative fuels for emergencies. These requirements are included in agreements between *Hududgazta'minot*, regional administrations, and greenhouse operators. In case of supply cuts, greenhouses are expected to switch to alternative fuels temporarily.
The restrictions are short-term and will be lifted once gas pressure stabilizes.
In late November, the Ministry of Energy stated there were no planned restrictions on gas for greenhouses, provided they pay for supply under current conditions. From October to December, greenhouses must pay 50% upfront for gas, with the remainder due by month's end. Full prepayment is required starting in January.
