UK: Major supermarket to slash price of Christmas veg to 15p
A major supermarket has confirmed it will be slashing the price of bags of Christmas vegetables to just 15p. Lidl is the latest retailer to announce that it will be making major reductions on festive dinner items ahead of the big day. The items that will be available for 15p include British parsnips (500g), British carrots (1kg), British brussel sprouts (500g), echalion shallots (300g), British swede (each) and white potatoes (2kg).

Spain: Eroski sees sales up 2.4% in first nine months of the year
Spanish retailer Eroski has reported a 2.4% increase in gross sales in the first nine months of its financial year, to 31 October. Sales for the nine-month period stood at €4.367mln, which reflects 'solid sales growth in a challenging environment', the group said. In food, meanwhile, sales were up 3.1% in the nine-month period, to €4.149mln, which was boosted by Eroski's commitment to keeping prices low for shoppers, it noted. EBITDA stood at €246mln for the nine-month period.

SPAR China partners celebrate new openings and reopenings
The two key partners of the SPAR brand in China, SPAR Shandong and SPAR Guangdong, celebrated the opening and reopening of stores nationwide. In Guangdong province, the SPAR Guangdong Dongcheng Wanda Supermarket welcomed customers for the first time at the end of November. US: Walmart closing store in Alabama
Walmart will permanently close a location in Huntsville, Alabama, before the Christmas holiday, citing underperformance as the reason.
