State of Andalusian greenhouse crops in early December

According to official information on the phenological state of greenhouse crops shared by the Agricultural and Fisheries Information Service of the Andalusian Regional Government, corresponding to the week of 2 to 8 December, pepper crops are showing a good vegetative development and fruit set in the greenhouses of Almeria. In some of these, double roofs have been installed to increase the temperature inside. The harvest of all kinds of peppers is still underway and, depending on the price situation, they are either cut or kept on the plant.

The tomato harvest is in full swing, with instances of some concentration of the supply. The thinning and staking work is also underway.

Regarding eggplants, good vegetative development and fruit set can be observed. There are plantations at different stages of development. The harvest in only starting in some of them, but it is in full swing for the earliest ones.

In greenhouses with zucchini productions, there are crops in all stages of development. Some of them are finishing their production cycle, and these will usually be followed by new zucchini plantings using thermal blankets in the early stages to achieve a good insulation.

The production cycle has already ended at some cucumber plantations, and when the harvest has been completed, a new planting of cucumbers or another vegetable will be carried out. Greenhouses with recent plantings usually have a double cover and a thermal blanket installed to protect the crops from the cold and speed up the vegetative development.

In Huelva, strawberry crops are mostly in phenological stage B (appearance of the first flower buds), and the first fruits of potted or early transplanted plantations are starting to appear.
