Specialists in constructing and equipping environmentally controlled glasshouses, Bridge Greenhouses, have recently completed a substantial installation project for Agrii.
Recently completed, the Agrii project featured the construction of a new research facility, separated into five plant research zones and a work area. Agrii tasked Bridge Greenhouses with designing a secure and environmentally controlled space that would be ideal for cutting-edge agricultural research and experimentation.
"Our work with Agrii highlights the value of precision-engineered facilities and controlled environments in advancing agricultural research," says Jamie Adams, Director of Bridge Greenhouses.
The 480.00m² structure, divided into 5 growing compartments & large work area, was fitted with roof and vertical integrated shade screens, Fan coil heating & cooling from a central air source heat pump. One of the growing compartments had suspended growing gutters c/w drip lines for strawberries, whilst irrigation in the remaining compartments consisted of either overhead spray lines or ebb & flood benches. The irrigation systems c/w UV filtration were fed from an external rainwater tank and all drainage water from the strawberry gutters & ebb & flood benches was collected in buried sumps and recycled to the rainwater tank.
Part of Bridge's contract was also the groundworks which as well as the foundations for the glasshouse, consisted of concrete floors with central ACO drains throughout & external plant slab. 400w LED grow lights were installed in all growing areas and a Tomtech T200 environmental control system was used to control vents, screens, heating, cooling, irrigation & grow lights.
With their research facility now complete, Agrii is set to begin critical trials, driving developments in crop-growing productivity and sustainable agriculture.
