VBT figures week 49

Auction prices for exposed crops of tomato, cucumber and strawberry meagre

The price for a kilo of vine tomatoes fell further last week. At the auctions of the Federation of Belgian Horticultural Cooperatives, the middle price came to 82 euro cents in week 49. Loose tomatoes pay better at 93 euro cents. For both loose and truss tomatoes, this brought prices below the five-year average.

The cucumber price is at just under 48 euro cents each. This is a slight drop in the price. A few growers are already feeding cucumbers from under exposure.

The price for head lettuce is also falling slightly. The price for week 49 comes to over 62 euro cents. For oak leaf lettuce in green and red and Lollo Bionda and Lollo Rossa, prices are still below those for head lettuce.

The price for strawberries also dropped, below the five-year average. The kilogram price: 5.58 euros.
