Hortilife BV has acquired the customer base of Veldex BV. The strategic move marks an important milestone in the international company's growth ambitions on the South American continent. Hortilife is a supplier of horticultural solutions. The company opened a branch in Mexico at the end of last year.
"The acquisition of Veldex's customer base is an important step in our ambition to grow on the South American continent," says Michel Bartelink, CEO of Hortilife. "The customers in South America align perfectly with our approach and values, and we look forward to supporting them with our innovative solutions and products, as well as our components and small materials. This move not only strengthens our presence in the region but also contributes to Hortilife's global growth."
New phase for Veldex
Bas van der Velden, owner of Veldex, explains the acquisition: "After 46 years of designing and installing horticultural projects in almost every corner of the world, it is time to adjust the travel schedule and take some more time off. However, this was not an option for me until proper succession was found to serve the extensive customer base with a personal touch as they have always been used to from Veldex."
The decision to transfer the customer base to Hortilife was a logical step. "Hortilife and Veldex are no strangers to each other; for years we have carried out various projects together, which is why I got to know Hortilife as a very competent and pleasant partner to work with. Because they recently opened a branch in Mexico, it is now an added value for my customers to be served by the Hortilife organization. They can go there for spare parts to complete projects and everything in between."
Hortilife has an extensive stock of PVC parts, irrigation units, and Sercom spare parts available in Mexico, enabling customers in Central and South America to be served quickly and efficiently.
Guidance in the transition phase
Although Veldex is transferring operations, Bas van der Velden will remain active in the background to ensure a smooth transition. "The horticultural sector is a wonderful industry in which I have learned that 'can't doesn't exist'. It is great to see that my customers are now in good hands with Hortilife."
With this acquisition, Hortilife further expands its position in the global horticulture sector and continues to support customers with high-quality and innovative solutions.
