VBT figures week 47

Price spike for vine tomato does not last

At the extreme tail end of the pepper season, the price for green peppers rose by over 1 euro last week at VBT. Volumes are low. Tomatoes did come in higher volumes, as did cucumbers. For vine tomatoes, the middle price dropped sharply in week 47, while the middle price for cucumbers was slightly higher at 47.7 euro cents each than a week earlier.

Due to the hard fall in the price of vine tomatoes, the price is now below the 2023 price level. However, the price still remains well above the five-year average. However, costs have also risen sharply compared to five years ago. This should not be forgotten when analyzing the bare middle prices.

As for vine tomatoes, the median price drops hard in week 47, below the 2023 price level. Again, the price is still well above the five-year average.

The average price for strawberries came out at over 9.16 euro per kilo. More than double the price compared to the end of October.
