Hortyfruta, the Andalusian Fruit and Vegetable Inter-branch organization, continues its exhaustive analysis of the market situation of greenhouse products. Last week, the organization warned that the situation was very worrying, especially for long Dutch-type cucumbers.
To date, the situation for this vegetable remains critical. As a result, and following the stipulations of the Extension of the Quality Standard published in the Official Gazette of the Andalusian Regional Government on 28/07/2022, Hortyfruta's Crisis Committee has decided to activate the Extension of the Quality Standard for long Dutch-type cucumbers grown in greenhouses in conventional agriculture. This is the first time that Hortyfruta has activated the Extension of the Quality Standard for this vegetable.
Second-category long Dutch-type cucumbers will no longer be marketed from the start of Wednesday, November 27. Only the extra and first categories for fresh consumption will reach the market, affecting all producers and marketers in Andalusia.
From the moment the standard comes into force, supervision, and control of compliance with it also starts. Hortyfruta, in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development of the Junta de Andalucía, has established a system to verify and control compliance with the Quality Standards agreement carrying out inspections at the facilities of horticultural marketing companies in Andalusia.
